Darkest Day
On this day
When the night is the longest
And darkness tries to stake its claim
We do not mourn the lack of sunlight
But wonder at the twinkle lights in the tree
And marvel at the advent candles burning bright
On the darkest of night
Shepherds were met with blinding light
And triumphant songs
Announcing a victory
That would start with a birth
Lead to a death
And end with a resurrection
A shining star would pierce the darkness
The light of the world would enter in
So on this day
When darkness feels darkest
Let us marvel at what joy and hope
Even a tiny twinkle light can bring
Because light enters the world
And darkness will not overcome it
A star shines
A sun rises
A candle burns
And one day
A King returns
