One Day

One day you will look back and tell this story

And it will only take a couple sentences

And they will say “oh that sounds hard.”

You will reply “yea, it was.”

And hold on your heart

All the tears you cried

All the questions you asked

All the fear you faced

You will remember the sleepless nights

The friends you lost

Or the dreams that almost died

A season will be reduced to a few sentences

That everyone else can move in past

And you will stop and realize that it is over

That you got thru it

And your tragedy became a story you tell

On the other side of your broken heart

Your crushed dreams

Or your bruised ego

It was a chapter 

Not the story

A plot twist

Not a resolution

And the actor that plays your part

Is wholly different 

than the person that came thru it
