Hi.

“In this life you will have trouble, but fear not, I have overcome the world.”

This world and the part we play in it is beautiful. Yes, there is brokenness, but I want to look for the beauty of our redemption in it. The Lord has made all things new, even as He is in the process of making us new.

Join me in looking for the beauty in life through thoughts and poems. I am so glad you are here.

Friday Favorites

This Friday is a celebration edition.  The past 2 weekends have been full of friends and family and times that feel like celebrations.  The next few weeks include my birthday, our anniversary, and Easter.  So many things to celebrate!!  This month is so busy but so full of joy.  Here are some of my current favorites,  I am linking up with Andrea, Narci, and Erika today.

Blue apron

Recently we signed up for Blue Apron.  I really love it.  The meals were yummy and unique.  All the ingredients were included and well labeled.  There was just enough for the meal you were making, which is often because I hate waste.  Cooking for 2 is difficult because so often you don’t use all of something, especially when it comes to vegetables.  I hate throwing things away when they go bad.  There are also recipes that you wouldn’t try on your own.

What I love most is that, we cook it together.  The process of cooking is fun, even though I normally lean toward quick or cheap meals when I plan.  It gives us time to slow down and enjoy.  Plus, they feel more special so we eat together at the table so that we can savor the evening.  I love it!

If you are interested, there are often promotion codes with discounts.  It’s not something we will fit into our weekly budget, but every once in awhile its a nice change of pace.

Birthdays

April has always felt like Birthday month!  Not only is my birthday in April, but many of my friends growing had birthdays within the month as well.  The month is full of celebrations!  Not that I am big on celebrating my own birthday, but I am always up for excuses to gather together with my friends.  And if cake is included that’s a huge bonus.

People celebrate in different ways.  Currently, most of my friends enjoy cooking a special meal together and having cake.  My family growing up, as well as my husband’s family, celebrate by going out to a special dinner all together.  In college, our friends made it a point to show up at midnight of your birthday with a cake and sing to you (or spray you with silly string!!)

Birthdays are definitely a favorite of mine!

Spring dresses

Jeans have always been a staple in my closet.  However the comfort of a spring dress is something I really look forward to as the weather gets better.  There are just so many great options now.  I am looking to add a few to my collection this year to add some variety.

Easter

Easter is only 3 Sundays away!  I really love Easter.  Christmas is awesome, but I really do love Easter. Growing up we did not really focus on Good Friday and Easter quite as much as I do now.  The meaning of those days are just really beautiful to me as a follower of Jesus.

The cross is really everything to me. Our victory in this world and the next.  Easter is such a beautiful celebration because there is so much less busyness and hubbub.  The Focus can be completely on the celebration of Christ!

Passion

Another of my favorites lately is the new Passion CD.  Playing on repeat for sure!  The music is great but the lyrics are really worshipful.  Some people are music people.  My husband is one of them, and that is the really reason I know anything about music.  But I am so glad for him, because the words of those songs are helping my heart to be pointed to Jesus.

And that is my favorite.
