Hi.

“In this life you will have trouble, but fear not, I have overcome the world.”

This world and the part we play in it is beautiful. Yes, there is brokenness, but I want to look for the beauty of our redemption in it. The Lord has made all things new, even as He is in the process of making us new.

Join me in looking for the beauty in life through thoughts and poems. I am so glad you are here.

Enough for Today

“3 His divine power has granted to us all things that pertain to life and godliness, through the knowledge of him who called us to his own glory and excellence,

2 Peter 1:3

Some of my favorite conversations happen on walks… others happen over coffee.  Coffee and walks… my 2 favorite things.

When you walk, you have nothing else to do, but think and talk.   One foot in front of the other.  One thought at a time.  You have nothing else you can do until you get where you are going.  But think, or talk, or pray.  Sometimes as I walk I am more still than when I am sitting still.  My mind stills.  Things come into perspective.

Especially with the help of good friends.

Someone else to help me get to these perspectives.  Can’t take credit for myself.

When you are in the midst of trial, it is easy to get in a rut.  To not be able to see past your hurt, confusion, or frustration.  It is so big, because it is happening to you.

Sometimes you need someone to sympathize… to pat your back and wipe your tears.  and tell you life is hard and it’s ok to cry.

But sometimes you need someone to tell you the truth.  To point you to scripture.  To remind you that a pity party totally detracts from the character of God.

2 Peter 1:3  “His divine power has granted to us all things that pertain to life and godliness, through the knowledge of him who called us to his own glory and excellence”

He has provided all things for life and godliness… for today.  I have everything I need to fulfill the calling God put on my life for today.  I lack nothing (James 1:4)

If you do not have something, it is because you do not need it for today.

What is your calling… for today?  We think so far ahead.  We want to have a plan.  To know exactly what to prepare for.  Because we want control.  We want to have it all together.  We want to know.

But today, I am called to share Jesus with those around me.

Today, I am called to be a friend to those that God has put in my life.  And I can do that.  I can call, pray, text, and share.

Today, I am supposed to support my husband, pray for him, and point him to Jesus.  And I can do that.

I have what I need to take care of today.  That’s it.  And that is enough.

Jesus is enough.

He is enough for tomorrow.  But I have to trust that.  Because I can’t experience that until tomorrow.  or the next day.  Or months from now.  But when it’s time, I will have what I need.

Why?  How?  Because I have Him.  I have Christ.  He is what I need to accomplish my calling for today.  He gives Himself to me.  All His strength, wisdom, faith, and patience.  He gives it generously.

So I will always have everything I need.  For today.  And for tomorrow.  But I just might not know how to use it yet.  And that’s ok.

Sometimes, it takes 2 miles for me to figure that out.  Sometimes it might take 2 months or 2 years.

But I have enough grace (undeserved favor)  to get through today as well.
