Hi.

“In this life you will have trouble, but fear not, I have overcome the world.”

This world and the part we play in it is beautiful. Yes, there is brokenness, but I want to look for the beauty of our redemption in it. The Lord has made all things new, even as He is in the process of making us new.

Join me in looking for the beauty in life through thoughts and poems. I am so glad you are here.

So Will I... To my Baby

So Will I... To my Baby

Who will you be

A copycat of me

A spitting image of your daddy

Or a mystery

A beautiful surprise

With an image all your own

Will your be chatty

I imagine so

As I hear you babble from your crib

Or will you be quiet

Observant

Taking it all in

Spinning it around

And sending it back out

More beautiful than before

Will your courage take you farther

than my eyes can see

Or will you stay close at my feet

Waiting for the ok

Will you change the world from a mountain top

Or from a pulpit

Or from the stability of a loving home

Who will you be?

Who are you already

That I can’t see

Will I push you and press you

To fit in my arms

Into the places I have saved for you

Or will I open my arms

to create a space for you to expand

To bloom

To fill up all the places that God has set before you

Will your little legs

Grow long enough

To travel the world

Or will they root firmly in place

Commited for a lifetime

Will your little fingers

Hold those who are hurting

Or fight for those who were wronged

Will your words be few and firm

Or many shared with passion

Will you…

Will your heart be soft

As you navigate the uncertainty before you

No matter how you do

You will go

You will walk the path before you

And will the Lord hold you as you go

He will

As I wonder all the things you could

I thank Him that He will

He will watch you and lead you

He will call you to himself

He will carry you as you go

And He will love you through it all

And so will I
