It's All Weird
Being married is weird, being in ministry is weird, being a mom is weird. It was weird to stay at home, and it is weird to go to work. I remember how weird and awkward being single could be, and how weird being a college student could be. I think that we need to own that it is all just weird at first. Uncharted territory. It’s ok to wrestle with it. To feel awkward about it. To be confused, or maybe not even be sure if you are happy about it. To feel a little lost at times.
But I have been continually reflecting on Deuteronomy 8 I remind myself that it is God who leads you through the wilderness “that He might humble you, testing you to know what is in your heart… that he might make you to know that man does not live on bread alone, but man lives by every word that comes from the mouth of the Lord.” He goes on to promise that He will lead you into a good land.
So give yourself permission to be in the wilderness. To be a little uncomfortable. To be unsure what is really going on. Be ok with not having all the answers. Do not believe the lie that you are the only one that doesn’t have a plan. Because sometimes God just tells you to start walking. And when you ask the destination, He remains silent. But He is with you every step of the way. He is giving you bread. And when you still feel hungry, He is giving you Himself.
I promise you that if you feast on His presence, you will look back at those awkward seasons with affection. Because while you felt clumsy and unsure, God was holding your hand the entire time. It’s ok to not want to go back to those wilderness times. But let’s not waste them.
So just hold on. It’s all weird, but He has good ahead for those who stay close to Him.
