Me, Myself, and I
Trust yourself they say
You can’t trust anyone but yourself.
You are your best friend
Most trusted confident.
It’s just me, myself, and I]
My body, heart, and mind
Our bodies betray us
They bend and break and decay
In ways our youth denied possible
Suddenly what felt as natural and mindless as breathing
Becomes excruciating
If not impossible
Our hearts deceive us
They become enablers
Giving hints of joy
While leading us into the depths
And darkness
And while this betrayal hurts us
We are not really all that surprised
Our minds however
Are the deepest betrayal
Our minds are seen as the reliable ones
That keep our hearts from wandering
If it can get our attention
And remains our connection to reality
When our bodies waste away
When our minds deceive us
We feel all hope is lost
And yet
When hope is lost
Mind, heart, and body
Friends that stick closer than a brother
All waste away
Your soul remained
Ransomed from this world
Where moth and dust destroys
And kept in eternity
By the one who over came the world
