Beauty in the ordinary
Craving beauty is as natural as hunger for a good meal
I long for beautiful things
But my appetite for beautiful has been tainted
When we are fed a stream of fancy trips
And beautiful clothes
And luxury surroundings
Its hard to see beauty in a sunrise through a finger smudged window
Its difficult to discern majesty
In overgrown wildflowers in our neighborhood
Homemade pizza doesn’t feel as special
In the shadow of gourmet cuisine
But I ask for eyes to see
Beauty in the ordered and the messy
In the curated and the chaos
In the glamorous an the simple
Because creation proclaims His glory
In the Grand Canyon and the overgrown field
He is whispering His joy on every mountain top
And in every mundane moment
We only need ears to hear
