Tell me, A Poem
I wish I had challenged myself to talk about ideas instead of people
To reject the lie that my ideas will make people talk about me
Tell me your ideas
And I will tell you mine
I will leave room for wonder
Make space for doubt
We can chase the rabbit trail out and back
Even if we arrive right where we left off
We will search for answers and find them
But we might take the long way to get there
So tell me about
How you brew your coffee
Or the ins and outs of the latest soccer game
Tell me how you picked your dogs name
Or what scripture is confusing you
Tell me your ideas
And I will tell you mine
We will debate the pros and cons
And I promise to tell you when your wrong
But only if you actually are
Not if your opinion is different than mine
But I will tell you that too
