Poem: Light
We are delivered from
Darkness to light
Slavery to freedom
Our chains are released
And yet we still cling to them
There no longer hold us
But we hold them
We are brought into
The glorious light
Yes still we find a shadow
To hide in
Shielding our eyes
Instead of turning our face to the sun
Fear in freedom
Shame still biting at our heels
Like the serpent who deceived us
Trying to have the last word
Open your ears and listen
Do you hear the voice in the garden?
The one saying “where are you?”
Because you who were once cast out
Are being brought near
Not to a place of exposure
But a place of redemption
